Something About September

“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the Fall.”
— F. Scott Fitzgerald

There is something about September, it feels a little like beginning again.

As the days get shorter, and the air feels different. There is a crispness in the morning that always reminds me that a new season is quietly beginning.

September feels like a time to go inward, refocus and maybe even learn something new. But sometimes, what we are learning isn’t something we chose. The inevitable life lesson is loss.

Grief has a way of changing how we see the world. The things we once took for granted can suddenly feel incredibly important. A familiar season, a song, a smell, or even the first cool morning can bring someone we miss right back into our thoughts.

Perhaps that's why September always feels like a time to slow down and truly notice who, and what matters most.

At leolam, we believe that understanding grief helps us care for one another better. We don't always need the right words. We don't need to fix someone's pain or tell them everything will be okay.

Sometimes, we simply need to show up.

A message. A thoughtful gesture. A reminder that someone is not alone.

Because grief doesn't have a timeline, and neither does love.

As a new season begins, perhaps we can carry that with us: to be a little more aware, a little more compassionate, and a little more willing to reach out to someone who may be carrying something we cannot see.

The more we understand, the better we care.

And sometimes, beginning again doesn't mean leaving the past behind.

It means learning how to carry it with us.
