How to Support Someone Who is Grieving: Keep Showing Up

When someone we love is grieving, most of us want to help.

We want to say the right thing, make things a little easier, or somehow take away some of their pain. But sometimes, because we don't know what to say, we say nothing at all.

I've learned through losing my own parents that grief isn't something we can fix.

And we don't need to.

What matters is showing up.

A text. A phone call. Sitting quietly together. Saying their name. Letting them talk about the person they've lost.

You don't need the perfect words. You just need to be there.

And keep showing up. Not only in the first few weeks, when everyone is checking in, but months later too. On a birthday. An anniversary. Or simply because they crossed your mind.

Grief doesn't follow a timeline.

This is at the heart of how leolam came to be.

After losing my parents, I understood how difficult it can be to know what to say or how to show someone you care when they're going through something incredibly hard.

leolam isn't simply about sending a gift.

It's about giving someone something that carries meaning when words aren't enough.

A remembrance candle that can be lit for someone who is no longer here. An XO blanket to bring a little comfort on a difficult day. A crystal that catches the light and creates a rainbow, all small reminders of love and remembrance.

These things don't take away the pain.

They're simply another way of saying:

I'm thinking of you.
I remember.
I'm here.

Because sometimes showing up looks like words.

And sometimes, it looks like something tangible that carries those words for you.

That's what leolam is about.
